Required documents include a production synopsis or script, a shooting itinerary with dates and locations, a crew list with passport copies, production company credentials, and an equipment list with serial numbers (for customs clearance).
For filming in UNESCO sites (e.g., Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Lumbini), permits must be obtained from the Department of Archaeology. These have specific restrictions on equipment and often include liaison officer supervision.
Permits are required to film in designated conservation zones (Chitwan, Annapurna, Sagarmatha). These are issued by the Department of Wildlife/National Trust for Nature Conservation and include liaison officer assignment (daily wage USD 80–200).
