Filming anywhere in Nepal requires official permits. Cross Adventure Travel manages all stages from documentation to approvals and logistics.
Issued by the Ministry of Information and Communication, this base permit allows filming in most public and non-sensitive areas. Processing typically takes 7–10 working days with proper documentation.
Required documents include a production synopsis or script, a shooting itinerary with dates and locations, a crew list with passport copies, production company credentials, and an equipment list with serial numbers (for customs clearance).
For filming in UNESCO sites (e.g., Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Lumbini), permits must be obtained from the Department of Archaeology. These have specific restrictions on equipment and often include liaison officer supervision.
Permits are required to film in designated conservation zones (Chitwan, Annapurna, Sagarmatha). These are issued by the Department of Wildlife/National Trust for Nature Conservation and include liaison officer assignment (daily wage USD 80–200).
Drone use requires separate clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Defense Ministry. Aerial permit processing takes around 10–14 working days, and fees typically start around USD 600, depending on location.
Locations such as Upper Mustang or Upper Dolpa require special consent from the Ministry of Home Affairs, often costing around USD 5,000, and include strict limits on what can be filmed
Document preparation, including synopses, itineraries, crew credentials, equipment lists, sponsor letters, and visa support.
Permit applications processed with the Ministry of Information and relevant agencies—fast-tracked within 5–10 working days when documents are complete
Location-specific approvals for heritage, parks, drone usage, and restricted zones.
Customs assistance for importing filming equipment—temporary import permits, duty clearance, airport coordination
On-site liaison officer coordination, including transport, meals, accommodation, and supervision.
